BE INSPIRED: INTERVIEW WITH SUSIE MARONEY

P.E X SUSIE MARONEY

Words By Felicity Bonello

Former Australian marathon swimmer Susie Maroney’s strength and determination is the stuff of legend. The youngest and fastest Australian to swim the English Channel, she holds the world record for a double crossing of the English Channel - when she was just 16 – and amongst many other accolades she clocked up the longest recorded swim without flippers when she completed a 197 kilometre swim from Mexico to Cuba in 1998. An OAM recipient, an Australia Day Ambassador and now a masters swimming coach, Susie Maroney is also a friend of P.E. Nation, and we caught up with her to talk health and motherhood on the eve of Mother’s Day.
