Meet the Nation: An Insider's Guide to Brisbane

An Insider's Guide to Brisbane

The Best Places To Go in Brisbane

Known as the sunniest capital city in Australia and home to more than 2.5 million people, Brisbane boasts an average of more than 300 days of sunshine every year. The perfect place to visit as a first-timer or regular traveler, with some of the best shopping, restaurants and outdoor lifestyle Australia has to offer, it always helps to have an insider's guide to some of the top spots to include in your holiday plans.

We asked P.E Nation girl, model and Brisbane local Milly Adamson to share some of her favourite destinations her city has to offer.

A Perfect Morning in Brisbane with Milly May

6am: I love to start the day with Pilates and my favourite studio is FS8 Chermside. This studio offers the perfect combination of cardio, Pilates, and mat Pilates. Every time I leave, I feel like I've had a great sweat and worked every muscle. It always challenges me to push myself physically and mentally. I try to attend the 6:15am class or go after work at 4:30pm, but morning classes are the best way to start the day feeling happier than when you walked in.

8am: When it comes to coffee, I try not to drink too much, but the best coffee shop in Brisbane is definitely Bunker Coffee. It's a little hole in the wall and always busy in the morning, but you never have to wait more than 5 minutes for your coffee.

Brisbane's Secret Spots

Brisbane Markets: As for markets, the beautiful Milton markets are the best in Brisbane. They have the perfect combination of food stalls and produce for the week, as well as a few sweets. I always stock up on fresh fruit and vegetables, particularly fresh medjool dates. I also grab a bunch of flowers for the kitchen and maybe a sweet treat for a Sunday indulgence.

Where to Eat in Brisbane: When I have lunch with the girls, Brisbane offers so many beautiful spots to choose from. I love a fresh salad for lunch, and both Cheeky Poke and the famous Fish Bowl have the best takeaway salads. For a sit-down lunch, Yoko (Japanese), Greca (Greek), both down on the wharf, or Lobby Bar for a tasty chicken salad are my top choices. These spots not only offer delicious and healthy meals but also provide a cute atmosphere to sit down and enjoy the surroundings.

The Best Green Juice: When it comes to juices, a green juice is always my go-to. It incorporates all the nutrients and benefits that I love and need for my body. Any green juice with fresh ginger, kale, and spinach is what I usually order. Not only does ginger add a spicy zing to the juice, but it also has detox and debloating benefits. Along with all the veggies and fresh greens, it helps me meet my daily vegetable intake, keeping my skin clean and feeling my best.
