P.E Nation x Vogue: The September Issue

Vogue's Global Fashion Spectacular

To celebrate the anticipated launch of their September Issue, this year, 27 editions of Vogue Magazine around the globe share their individual interpretations of the theme ā€˜New Beginnings'. As part of this campaign, Vogue also released its September Global Fashion Spectacular, a worldwide photoshoot featuring key P.E Nation pieces.

In an article heralding the concept, Vogue explains, ā€œin a portfolio shared across 27 editions of Vogue around the world, 19 models flaunt 35 looks from the Fall collections; their styles ranging from the smartly subdued to the go-for-broke glamorous.

ā€œRepresenting both the US and the UK, fashion editors Camilla Nickerson, Alex Harrington, Poppy Kain and Julia Sarr-Jamois led the effort, thinking along four broad aesthetic lines: the short and bright, inventive approaches to leather, reimagined florals, and bold spins on knitwear.ā€

P.E Nation features in two of the 35 looks: ā€œIn The Mixā€, styled by Camilla Nickerson, with model Quannah Chasinghorse (below, left) wearing P.E Nation leggings paired with a Balenciaga jacket, Alberta Ferretti dress, and Junya Watanabe boots.

Ā

The second look is titled ā€œAnd Then Someā€. Styled by Alex Harrington, it showcases Anok Yai (below, left) wearing P.E Nation leggings, teamed with a Bottega Veneta dress and Gucci bag.

If style is an expression of our feelings, our inner strength, our individuality, then this Vogue fashion shoot is the ultimate representation of this. Take items of clothing that draw you in, then colour block, clash, style, pair and wear it in your own unique way: this is the heart of everything P.E Nation stands for.

Vogue: The September Issue

When it comes to Vogue Magazine, thereā€™s little more anticipated than its annual September Issue. Think back to the feature-length behind-the-scenes documentary it inspired in 2009, following US Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and her team as they prepared the monumental edition from their Manhattan headquarters. Moments and statements like these create the buzz and spectacle Vogue is renowned for.

Often double or triple its standard book size, the printed edition of US Vogue Magazine, in particular, has symbolised the fashion bible for decades, sharing the good news and gospel truths of emerging and iconic designers. The September issue is a sartorial celebration covering everything from style trends and fashion commentary, to forecasting for the coming seasons, Vogue runway reporting, and endless highly curated shoots.

Vogue Magazine

Easily one of the most anticipated aspects of the tome's release is the Vogue Magazine cover image. This year, each of its 27 global editions put their own unique twist on the same ā€˜New Beginningsā€™ theme. The cover of US Vogue September 2021 features ā€˜The Models Who Make the Momentā€™, including Kaia Gerber, Anok Yai, Precious Lee, Bella Hadid, Sherry Shi, Ariel Nicholson, Yumi Nu and Lourdes Leon.

For Vogue Australia, the ā€˜New Beginningsā€™ cover features Yolngu model Magnolia Maymuru and her daughter Djarraran, bringing First Nations representation to the forefront. The cover image centres on Magnolia and her infant sharing a serene ā€˜golden hourā€™ moment on the Australian coast.
