How To Style P.E Nation

Styling The Nation: Red Hot Looks

When co-founders and creative directors Pip Edwards and Claire Tregoning launched P.E Nation in 2016, their own personal takes on style – tomboyish, sporty, colourful and fun – combined with their passion for pursuing active lifestyles, led the quest to design the ultimate wardrobe: one that looked good, felt good, and could seamlessly transition across the entire arc of a typical modern day.

“I love to keep it tonal, and always sporty with a crop and trainers, but experiment with how I layer leisure wear back with fashion – it’s fun and creates a whole new vibe. I encourage you to experiment and find your own way to style it,” says Pip.

Outfit Ideas

When it comes to athleisure wear, there’s a unique ability to take it from the gym to the streets, or from day to night, with just a few layers, or by switching from sneakers to an ultra-cool heel.

You might wonder what to wear with leggings, or how to dress leggings up. Wear them with trainers and you’re ready for a sweat session; match them with a heel, sports bra and a blazer and they take on a whole new mood. The key is to experiment, mix and match, and have fun.

How to Wear Athleisure

For true P.E style, colour blocking is a signature element. “Start with one colour,” says Pip. “Then layer up from there.”

A deep, rich red is one major colour of the moment, with the hue popping up everywhere from Kanye West’s Donda listening party in Atlanta, to Valentino’s Autumn/Winter ’21/’22 Haute Couture runway show in Venice.

“Chilli is a great deep red that is easy to wear, confident, current and seasonal,” says Pip. You can wear it tone on tone, or go for a more pared back approach; a great go-to solution on days when you’re having trouble deciding what to wear. “If you get stuck for ideas on a particular day, just keep it simple: stick to black, then add some fun with one bold, bright layer or a colourful shoe.”
